Assorted Prototypes

Blob Lamp
My first ever lamp, the Blob Lamp explores an organic, milk carton-like resin printed form, juxtaposed with a simple wooded base.

Hill Lamp
Designed to fulfill my need for a bedside lamp, the Hill Lamp was inspired by a ball rolling down a hill. The body of the lamp was cut on the CNC router and bandsaw, and the lightbulb serves as the "ball" rolling down the "hill."

The Stacked Cardboard Lamp came about as an exercise in operating the CNC router with the drag knife. Circles were cut and stacked together to create this form, with the intention of utilizing the perforations in the layers of the cardboard as passageways for the light to shine through.

2 hour Cardboard Pendant
This lamp resulted from a challenge to use found waste materials to create a luminaire in under 2 hours. The pendant is made from recycled cardboard, an empty 3D printer filament roll, and string.

The Cardboard Wall Light Installation was inspired by a stack of post-it notes. After examining what happens when the post-it notes are folded to different lengths, I was inspired to take the same form and translate it into a large-scale lighting installation, with each layer illuminated from behind. Made from cardboard and LED strip light.

3D printed Column Lamp
This quick prototype was an exploration into pattern and repetition. Inspired by intricate floor tiles, I explored various infill patterns and shapes to achieve a geometric pattern when illuminated. Apertures mixed with opaque walls create different lighting affects depending on the viewing angle.
