Studio 211 focused on developing an understanding of different structural systems such as the geodesic dome, hyperbolic paraboloid, grid shell, and truss systems. Exploring the possibilities of grid shell systems, I proposed a hexagonal grid shell roof to go over Steinberg Ice Rink in St. Louis, Missouri. The various frosted and colored stained glass panels allow light to filter through and dance across the ice, while still protecting it from the harsh elements.
